Scientists are trained to question claims that are not supported by data. In the west, eastern traditional medicines have been largely criticized for their air of mysticism. However, we cannot debunk a field that is not well-studied. Alternative medicine can become an actual science if we implement rigorous research and strict regulatory policies. Ultimately, it can become successfully integrated into conventional therapy to improve health outcomes.
New Mexico Adds Opioid Use to Conditions for Medical Marijuana

“New Mexico health officials on Thursday expanded the list of qualifying conditions for the state’s medical cannabis program to include opioid use disorder, joining several other states. Vitamin Shoppe to Sell Edible CBD!
The Vitamin Shoppe started stocking its shelves with oral CBD soft gels this week and will start selling CBD drops by the end of the month. It’s one of the first major national retailers to sell CBD supplements since Congress legalized the cannabis derivative in December. The move flies in the face of guidance from the Food and Drug Administration that prohibits companies from adding CBD to dietary supplements until the agency has a chance to write new rules regulating its sale.

(Reuters Health) – One in three U.S. patients with a cancer diagnosis has recently used non-standard therapies to manage their disease – but many haven’t told their doctors, survey data suggest.
Among patients who said they used so-called complementary and alternative therapies, such as herbal supplements and yoga, nearly 30 percent did not disclose this use to their physicians, researchers wrote in a letter published in JAMA Oncology.
